Election results announced for three Minnesota commodity councils

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has announced the results of the recent elections of board members to serve on three Minnesota commodity councils. The MDA is responsible for administering the elections and certifying the ballots. The Minnesota Wheat Research and Promotion Council elected the following members to serve three-year terms: Tony Brateng, Roseau, Minnesota; Tim Dufault, Crookston, Minnesota; Kevin Leiser, Fertile, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Dairy Promotion Council elected the following members to serve two-year terms: Dan Grunhovd, Gary, Minnesota; Kristine Spadgenske, Menahga, Minnesota; Debi Clasemann, Long Prairie, Minnesota; Suzanne Vold, Glenwood, Minnesota; John Merdan, Avon, Minnesota; Tom Walsh, DeGraff, Minnesota; Kevin Buss, Hutchinson, Minnesota; Barbara Liebenstein, Dundas, Minnesota; James Dose, Lake City, Minnesota; Karen Kasper, Owatonna, Minnesota; Rita Young, Plainview, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Turkey Research and Promotion Council elected the following members to serve three-year terms: John Peterson, Cannon Falls, Minnesota; At-Large Christopher Huisinga, Willmar, Minnesota; Scott Jones, Willmar, Minnesota. Through the mandatory check-off program, farmers pay a percentage of their sale proceeds to their commodity council. Commodity councils use the funds to pay for promotion, communication and research activities aimed at increasing crop value for producers.
