CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PIERZ PIONEER FOOTBALL TEAM WINNING THE CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY AT THE PREP BOWL IN MINNEAPOLIS. Pierz scored on a touchdown run by Mathias Algarin to take the lead with under a minute left and Preston Veith had a big sack with seconds left to secure their 4th State Championship for Pierz Football. --The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce announced their December Employee of the Month as Krista Smude. Smude has worked with LeBlanc’s Rice Creek Hunting & Recreation since 2003 and was named the General Manager in 2016. Congratulations to Krista Smude the employee of the month from the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce for December.
--The Little Falls City Council meets tonight at 7:30pm at the City Hall Council Chambers, work session precedes meeting.
--The Morrison County Commissioners meet Tuesday at 9am at the Government Center Boardroom. Items include the medical examiner's contract with the sheriff's office and in the auditor/treasurers report information on ICE Fest and home tax resolutions to be passed.
--The Minnesota State Patrol reported nearly 700 accidents in a time period from Friday night to noon Sunday due to the winter storm that dropped rain, freezing rain, sleet and heavy snow across the state. Of those accident 24 resulted in some sort of injuries, there was 1 fatality in southern Minnesota, hundreds of spin outs, cars in ditches and many close calls from the icy roads. Hospitals across the state said the ER's were full due to frostbite and falls from the storm also.
--A 44-year-old St. Cloud man was injured Wednesday morning on Westbound I-94 near Albany. Jonathon Walz was traveling west when he left the roadway and rolled his vehicle. Walz was treated for injuries at the Melrose Hospital, deem non serious in nature.
--Two people were hurt in a crash involving three vehicles. The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened at about 6pm Friday on Highway 27 near Osakis in Todd county. A car driven by 20-year-old Caleb Kilman of Alexandria was going west when he swerved to miss a deer and went into the ditch. Another vehicle driven by 36-year-old Daniel Borstad of Osakis turned around to go check on Kilman when another vehicle sideswiped his vehicle. The third vehicle went into the ditch striking Kilman's car. The driver of the third vehicle and his passenger, 83-year-old Donald Brown of Burtrum and 82-year-old Barbara Brown of Burtrum, were both taken to a hospital in Long Prairie with treatable injuries. Kilman and Borstad were not hurt.
--Todd County Deputies from November 17th through the 25th responded to 155 calls for service. The following were the types of calls: 43 traffic stops, 14 civil process, 7 suspicious activity type complaints, 2 assist other agencies, 4 traffic complaints, 3 disturbances/domestics, 10 car/deer accidents, 5 welfare checks, and 4 farm animals out complaints. They also received a report of an internet/phone scam that happened to residents of Eagle Bend. The Complainants report that they provided personal and bank account information to suspects who were claiming to be from Amazon.com. The suspects also gained remote access to the reporting parties computer and tried to transfer money from the resident's bank account to China. Todd County reminds you to not provide any personal or bank account information to anyone over the phone if you did not make the call, to avoid being scammed.
--Heavy snow blanketed the area over the weekend with amounts of over 9-12 inches in many spots. Aitkin reported nearly 20 inches of snow and blizzard conditions in Duluth stopped traffic and closed roads where nearly 2 feet of snow fell. In Little Falls gusty winds and heavy snow made for tricky travel Saturday night into Sunday canceling a number of church services yesterday. The snow is now gone but very cold temperatures with most of the state waking up today to temperatures near or below zero. Slow start is expected.
--Tim Sumner wants to thank all who came to the Community Thanksgiving Meal on Thursday last week. In about 90 minutes Tim said they fed around 540 people, more than last year. He wanted to thank the over 100 volunteers who helped, all who donated prizes to be given away and desserts. They had just enough food for the event and again a special thank you from Tim Sumner for attending.
--A reminder that the Christmas Tours continue this week in Little Falls with Christmas at the Mansions at Linden Hill today from 1-7pm, Rosenmeier House with Nutcracker Suite today from 1-7pm, Minnesota Fishing Museum 12-7pm today. The Lindbergh Site has their WW1 Christmas starting up again on Friday. All of the tours wrap up on Sunday.

PREP BOWL= Blooming Prairie won Class A, Caledonia won AA, and ROCORI wins in overtime 22-21 over SMB for the 4A Title, Wayzata won the 6A championship on Friday. Saturday Mountain Lake Area won the 9 man, Pierz as mentioned 3A title and Chaska won the 5A championship at the Prep Bowl in Minneapolis.
COL FB= Wisconsin pounded Minnesota Saturday on the ground but mostly by air to win 38-17 at snowy TCF Bank Stadium. Both teams finish the season at 10-2. Wisconsin wins the west division and will face Ohio State for the Big 10 Championship Saturday. The Gophers will have to wait and see which bowl game they will receive.
NFL= The Vikings (8-3) are at Seattle (9-2) tonight for Monday Night Football, coverage begins at 6:30pm on AM960 KLTF.
