Pierz City Council sets 2016 preliminary tax levy

The Pierz City Council set their 2016 preliminary tax levy on Monday night. The 2015 levy was $280,515 and the proposed levy has a $20,000 increase or roughly 7%. The final levy in Pierz will be set on November 23rd. The Brainerd City Council Monday approved a 2016 preliminary levy increase of 25 percent. The approved preliminary tax levy is $6.1 million, which is $1.6 million more than the 2015 tax levy. The St. Cloud City Council unanimously approved Monday night their preliminary 2016 budget and levy, which are about 2.6 percent higher than this year. The approved preliminary tax levy is approximately $23.4 million, about $600,000 over 2015. The Little Falls City Council is scheduled to set their preliminary tax levy at next Monday nights meeting. The final levy can be lower than the preliminary levy, but it cannot be higher.
