A 52-year-old Brainerd man was hospitalized and another man is in jail following a stabbing during a fight Friday in downtown Brainerd. Officers responded to a report of a fight shortly after 6:00pm Friday in the area of the 700 block of Laurel Street. Responding officers located two male parties involved in the incident who demonstrated signs of intoxication. Officers observed one of the males had blood on his shirt. He showed officers a small laceration on his bicep and reported being stabbed by the other male. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injury. A household steak knife was recovered at the scene. Officers arrested 30-year old Dustin James Cavin of Brainerd, and transported him to jail for second-degree assault. Cavin remains in custody awaiting formal charges while the matter is under review by the Crow Wing County Attorney.
