A St. Cloud man set fire last week to the home of a woman who had recently ended a relationship with him. 38-year-old Desmond Lamart Jones was charged with first-degree arson Monday. He is accused of setting fire to a residence on 33rd Avenue North on Thursday. On June 18th, Jones pleaded guilty to fleeing police and driving while intoxicated in January and had been released from jail pending sentencing. A man living in a residence in the 100 block of 33rd Avenue North heard a “whoosh” sound and saw flames and smoke outside before 1:40am Thursday. The man told police he saw Jones running away from the residence, and was 100 percent sure of Jones’ identity. Officers found and arrested Jones, who was wearing clothing that matched the description given by the man who saw him running away.
