A 9-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car in St. Cloud Thursday night. Officers were called to the intersection of Second Street South and Second Avenue South around 6:20pm for a report of a child being struck by a car. The boy was walking north on Second Street South with his mom. They had crossed the eastbound lane of Second Street South and were waiting on the median for the westbound traffic to clear. The left lane of the westbound Second Street South had cleared, and while the mom was waiting for the right lane to clear, her son got away from her and headed into traffic. The boy ended up being hit by a car. The boy has some facial injuries, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
