Syngenta gets new leadership

Wednesday, May 4th 2016

Syngenta will soon be under new leadership. As of June 1, J. Erik Fyrwald will be the new CEO of the Swiss-based seed and crop protection company, replacing interim CEO John Ramsay. Fyrwald is currently president and CEO of Univar, a U.S. chemistry distribution company, but he is no stranger to agriculture. His experience includes nearly three decades at DuPont, including serving as group vice president of DuPont Agriculture and Nutrition. "I have admired Syngenta from the outside for many years and am delighted, therefore, to have been chosen to lead the company in the next exciting phase of its journey,” Fyrwald said in a company statement. He joins Syngenta at a transitional time. In February, the Swiss company was bought by Chinese national firm ChemChina for $43 billion in cash after rebuffing multiple offers from Monsanto.
