NEWS
--Around 6:30pm Saturday the Morrison County Sheriff ‘s Office received a report of an ATV rollover with injuries on Azure Road near 320th Street, south of Motley. 31-year old Jeremy Olsen of Cushing was traveling north on Azure Road when he lost control, causing the ATV to roll. Jeremy and his passenger, 7-year old Samuel Olsen were each transported to St Cloud Hospital for their injuries. Neither of the individuals were wearing a helmet.

--A Brainerd mail truck started on fire Friday night around 6pm. Brainerd firefighters and Crow Wing County deputies responded north of Gull Lake Dam Road north of Baxter on Highway 371 and helped the mail carrier get the packages and mail out of the burning truck as witnesses watched on. The fire started in the engine compartment and the mail truck was ruled a loss. The female mail carrier was taken to the hospital for minor smoke inhalation and some minor burns from the fire. No other injuries were reprorted.

--Three people were hurt in an accident Sunday night on Highway 25 near Foley in Benton County. Around 9:30pm, 53-year-old Kerri Welch of Clear Lake was heading south on Highway 25 when 20-year-old Samuel Peterson of Foreston pulled out in front of the first vehicle colliding with it. Both drivers and Welch's passenger, 58-year-old Connie Popp of Clear Lake were all taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.

--Residents of the Sartell-St. Stephen school district will have two opportunities to hear about progress on the new high school and planned facilities updates. The meetings will allow administrators the opportunity to present the facilities plan, give details on the construction process of the new high school and give a look at the plans for the new building. The meetings are planned for 6:30pm this Wednesday and December 7th. In May a $105.8 million bond referendum was approved by voters that would go to build a new high school and address needs at existing facilities. The new high school is planned to open in 2019.

--Members of the Central Minnesota Violent Offenders Task Force are reporting that they discovered a methamphetamine lab and chemicals used in making the drugs after the search of a St. Cloud home. Officers executed a search last Tuesday at 934 Longview Drive after receiving information about possible drug dealing in the residence. During the search officers found a methamphetamine lab along with a number of chemicals. Due to chemicals, VOTF required assistance from a certified team from the Twin Cities to clean up the waste. The home was condemned by the city's health inspector due to the hazardous chemicals. The owner of the home, 43-year old Dhanrajia Brooks of St. Cloud was present during the search. Brooks could be charged with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance pending the results of lab analysis. During the search officers also came in contact with three individuals with active warrants. 28-year old Jason Rau, 47-year old David Turner, and 21-year old Dragon Wood-Hillman all three of St. Cloud were each taken into custody and taken to Sherburne County Jail. The search was the second search of the home in the last five months for controlled substance violations.

--Someone purchased a winning ticket of $1-million dollars from Saturday's Powerball in St. Cloud and as of Monday morning had not turned it in. The $421-million prize was won in Tennessee. The winning numbers were 17, 19, 21, 37, 44 and powerball 2.

--The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to be aware of another scam that is circulating. According to Sheriff Shawn Larsen, the most recent case is a person posing as a representative from Dish Network, advising the caller that they need to change their receiver in order to get better service as well as a clearer picture. Dish Network was contacted and they advised that this is a scam that is currently going around. Sheriff Larsen stated that in this particular case, the victim’s personal information was not given out. Larsen wants to remind residents that if they receive an offer that seems too good to be true, it’s more than likely a scam. Residents have many options and one option is to get a call back number and have it researched. Scams continue to be an ongoing problem nationwide and residents are encouraged to never give out their personal information over the phone.

--St. Cloud firefighters battled a kitchen fire Saturday that caused about $60,000 in damage. Firefighters were called around 5:45pm to 807 6th avenue south where the fire in the kitchen was quickly extinguished. Everyone in the home escaped without injury. The fire did extensive damage to the kitchen and smoke damage to the entire home. The cause was due to inattentive cooking.

--A kitchen fire Sunday displaced residents of an apartment in Germain Towers in downtown St. Cloud. The St. Cloud Fire Department was called to the apartments at 905 St. Germain St. shortly before 8:30pm. The occupant was cooking and a grease fire started on the stove. A nearby sprinkler was activated and put out the fire. No one was injured. The occupants of the affected unit were displaced, but all other residents were allowed to return to their apartments. Water damage from the sprinklers extended through the first, second and third floors. The damage is estimated at $25,000.

--St. Cloud Police Department is among a number of Minnesota public safety organizations to receive life-saving equipment from Firehouse Subs. The restaurant's public safety foundation will award more than $118,000 worth of equipment grants to 13 Minnesota public safety organizations on Tuesday. St. Cloud police will receive an automated external defibrillator worth $1,300. Other equipment being donated to Minnesota agencies by Firehouse Subs includes a transit van, a thermal imaging camera and additional defibrillators. The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given more than $23 million to agencies in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $292,000 in Minnesota.
