NFU: BRAZIL’S MEAT SCANDAL ANOTHER REASON FOR COOL

The president of the National Farmers Union (NFU) says Brazil’s meat scandal is another reason to have country-of-origin labeling (COOL) on meat products. Roger Johnson says if COOL was in place, consumers would instantly know whether they were buying Brazilian beef. The Trump Administration is preparing to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Johnson says NFU wants COOL to be a priority in those discussions. The previous COOL law was repealed by Congress in December of 2015 after a World Trade Organization (WTO) dispute with Canada and Mexico.
