Charges are now official against a Brainerd attorney for soliciting prostitution in a public place following a law enforcement sting operation. 71-year-old Richard Albert Ohlsen faces a gross misdemeanor charge after responding to a “escort” advertisement placed by police May 19th. The charge against Ohlsen was delayed compared to the other seven men charged in the sting after all Crow Wing County judges recused themselves from signing the criminal complaint drafted by the County Attorney. Ohlsen allegedly sent a text message to a phone number provided in the advertisement, believing he was corresponding with a 22-year-old woman named Sunny. Ohlsen was placed under arrest after knocking on the door of the hotel room provided to him from the undercover officer posing as Sunny. A search revealed Ohlsen was carrying the same cellphone used to send the text messages and cash equal to the agreed price. Ohlsen is set to appear for his first hearing July 21st.
