The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources Commissioner announced Tuesday that the DNR will make its call whether to have a winter ice fishing season for walleye on Lake Mile Lacs before the end of the month. The DNR has completed fish surveys on the lake and will look over the information before making their final decision. The DNR has faced criticism over its relationship with the public in the wake of the walleye closure on the lake earlier this summer and also recently after Governor Mark Dayton stated in a quote that there would be a ice fishing season on Lake Mille Lacs this winter.
