Brainerd, Pierz and Garrison firefighters battled a rambler home fire Monday on the 7500 block of South Long Lake Bay Road southeast of Brainerd. Brandon and Cindy Larson were remodeling their home when they saw the black smoke on the deck. Brandon attempted to use his backhoe to move dirt on the deck to extinguish the fire but it reached a propane tank which then exploded. The home was destroyed from the fire. The Larson’s have a small hobby farm where the outbuildings were saved. No injuries reported and no animals harmed. Firefighters say it appears the fire started from debris burning around the wooden deck.
