A former Richmond mayor is scheduled for sentencing in February after pleading guilty to two felonies in connection with theft of charitable gambling proceeds from the town’s amateur baseball team. Scott Kron pled guilty to two counts of theft by swindle, according to the Stearns County attorney’s office. Sentencing is set for February 19th.  State guidelines call for a sentence of 15 days in jail and 30 days of house arrest. A plea agreement that is still subject to court approval calls for restitution of $15,878. Charges against Kron said when he was manager of the Richmond Royals he had taken more than $40,000. The statute of limitations allows prosecution for thefts in only the three most recent years. Kron was the mayor of Richmond at the time the theft was reported. He resigned from being team manager of the Richmond Royals before resigning as mayor in June 2014, citing personal and health reasons.
