Following the shortened walleye season on Lake Mille Lacs, resort and businesses owners are now waiting for word if there will be a walleye ice fishing season this winter. Though most resorts don’t offer cottages or boats to rent over the winter, fish house supply are large and the area offers an array of fishing and other events around the lake which makes for big business. Governor Mark Dayton hinted at a special session but it was later scrapped with hopes when the legislature reconvenes that the subject will be brought up. The DNR will not perform a major stocking of the lake until spring. As of now the ban on walleye fishing is in effect until December 1st. For now, ice fishing enthusiasts will have to wait and see.
