A 44-year-old man was given the maximum sentence by a judge Monday after a crime of domestic assault by strangulation. Dallas Wayne Smith of Cass Lake was found guilty after a two day trial earlier this month in Cass County District Court. Smith was convicted. The judge sentenced Smith to three years prison because of the severity of the crime and past criminal convictions against him.
