The Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s (MDA) Sustainable Agriculture Demonstration Grant program is funding 13 new on-farm projects in 2015. Farmers are investigating ways they can boost profitability while protecting resources and conserving energy. This year’s projects are located across Minnesota and exhibit great diversity: greenhouse engineering, cover cropping and soil health, fruit pests and diseases, honeybees, and dairy heifers. All projects take place on Minnesota farms and are either led by, or involve, farmers as primary partners. Grantees are required to host events, where the public can get a glimpse at some of the future improvements in farming.
