Super Bowl Sunday is one of America's biggest sporting events where friends and family gather to socialize while watching the game. Authorities remind everyone to be responsible and do your part keeping our roadways safe. If you plan on drinking, plan ahead and have a designated driver in place. Remember, impaired driving crashes can be prevented. Let's all do our part to make this a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl weekend.

--Joe Przybilla was inducted into the Minnesota Auctioneer Hall of Fame at the annual Auctioneers Convention that was held in Moorhead on January 20th. With 19 family members surprising him with their presence and his auction family all around him, his story was told by another Hall of Fame member and close friend, Jerome Hanson of Hoffman. Joe has been in the auction business since 1994. He went to Continental Auction School in Mankato in December of 1993. Going to that convention was a decision that was very hard to make considering that the Przybilla home had burned down on the night of January 12th, 1994. Joe has done many real estate, antiques & collectibles, farm, and household/estate sales over the last 24 years. His original partner was Pete Newman who took him under his wing when he came out of auction school. Once Pete retired from the auction business, Joe partnered with Dean Mitchell of Albany and formed Mitchell-Przybilla Auction Co. and have continued the legacy left by Pete Newman and Cliff Mitchell along with their sons, Alex and Paul Mitchell and Cory Przybilla. He has also become a very popular benefit auctioneer having raised thousands of dollars for local benefits whether it be for people who have suffered a tragic event in their lives or benefits for non-profits. He has raised over $60,000 each year for Holy Trinity School at their annual Steak and Wine dinner fundraiser held in October. He once sold a brick from the old St. Michael’s elementary school (that he recovered when the school was demolished) at a fundraiser for a family for $10,000. When the purchaser told him to sell it again, it went for another $3,500. Congratulations to Joe Przybilla on his Hall of Fame induction.

Voss and his passenger were not hurt. Haugen was taken to the Onamia hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries.

--An Oregon man has been charged with felony drug possession after a traffic stop on Interstate 94 found 200 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle. A Minnesota State Patrol trooper pulled over a van on I-94 January 26th. The vehicle was driven by 42-year old Cory Frazier of Philomath, Oregon. The van was pulled over because it had license plate covers that were dirty, obscuring part of the plate, and because car fresheners were hanging from the rear view mirror. The trooper who initiated the stop then saw suspicious tools in the van. A canine was called to the scene and alerted to the scent of potential drugs in boxes covered by a tarp. A search of the boxes found sealed vacuum bags of marijuana. In all, about 200 pounds of marijuana was found. Frazier was arrested and made an initial appearance in court Monday on a felony first-degree drug possession charge.

--The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is asking for assistance finding a driver who struck and injured a 91-year old man in Brandon on Tuesday. Around 10:00pm, the sheriff's office received a call of an elderly man in the roadway and bleeding from the head. The caller had swerved to avoid the man. Deputies arrived and found the victim lying on South Central Avenue. He had numerous injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The man was taken to Douglas County Hospital and treated for his injuries. He told deputies he had left the Brandon Assisted Living Facility and was walking when he fell in the roadway. He stated he was then hit by a vehicle. The sheriff's office is searching for a vehicle that was in the area at the time of the incident. It is described as a clean, newer white sedan, possibly a Chevrolet Malibu or similar body style. The victim's name will be released pending family notification.
