NEWS
–A 28-year-old Little Falls man charged in a law enforcement sting of prostitution has pleaded guilty to a gross misdemeanor to fore go an upcoming trial. Kevin Groseclose was scheduled for trial last month but entered the plea on April 25th and was sentenced this week in Crow Wing County District Court. Groseclose was given two years supervised probation and ordered to complete an offenders prostitution program. Groseclose was also fined $1,760 and if he does not comply with his probation stipulations he would face jail time. Three others arrested in May, 2015 on solicitation charges are scheduled in July and August to have their trial dates unless a plea deal is arranged. They are Tyler Meech of Baxter, Brent Seivert of Breezy Point and Kenneth Kirk who currently lives in Tennessee.
–A 40-year-old Little Falls man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on Highway 371 and Elder Drive in Baxter. Xuan Thanh Nguyen stated to officers that he had neck pain following the accident and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The other driver, 69-year-old Lillian Neisse of Verndale was not hurt.
–A wildfire Wednesday north of Staples burned over 100 acres and needed six aircraft, a large 3,000 gallon tanker, track vehicles and bulldozers to get it under control. The fire was called in around 3:30pm near the town of Oylen. The fire mostly torched large pine trees and through threatened one small structure there was no extensive damage to it. Firefighters worked for over five hours to help get the fire under control. This was one of many fires called in Wednesday afternoon in Crow Wing, Cass and Wadena Counties. Burning restrictions were put back in place in many northern Minnesota counties due to the very high fire risk.
–Stearns County received a call around 5:30am Thursday of a camping trailer on fire on Green Acres Drive in Eden Lake Township. Callers stated that the camper was fully engulfed. As a Stearns county deputy arrived, everyone was out of the camper and a truck parked next to the camper was fully engulfed. Eden Valley fire arrived and extinguished the fire. The camper and truck, along with all of the owners personal items were a total loss. No injures were reported. The cause is believed to be from a cooking grease fire. A southeast St. Cloud kitchen was damaged Wednesday night in a fire, according to the St. Cloud Fire Department.
–Authorities have released more information on a barn fire near Pine River in Cass County April 29th around 11:25am. The barn was in use at the time of the fire. Several pigs were lost. There were no human injuries. Fire crews fought the fire and small running fires in the grass throughout the day and returned the next day after a few hot spots reignited. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
–Authorities said a fire started in a pot of oil on the stovetop at 1811-16th St. SE around 7pm. By the time firefighters arrived, the fire had gone out. No injuries were reported, but the kitchen suffered around $1,500 in damages, according to the Fire Department.
–The Pierz City Council meets Monday night at 7pm at city hall in Pierz. There will be a rental ordinance public hearing at 6pm Monday.

–A St. Cloud teen is facing aggravated robbery charges after robbing two women at gunpoint. Two women reported a robbery at 11:53pm Wednesday in the 1900 block of Seventh Street North. The women told officers they were robbed at gunpoint by two suspects and had property stolen from them. Police later arrested a 17-year-old boy who was believed to be involved. The teen was taken to a secure facility and is facing aggravated robbery charges. The case is still active. Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Cloud Police.
–A Stearns County judge sentenced a man to 27 years in prison Thursday for sex trafficking two women. 41-year old Israel Davis previously had been convicted of 10 felonies for recruiting and trafficking women as prostitutes in the St. Cloud area. Davis was sentenced to 19 years for trafficking one woman and a consecutive sentence of eight years for trafficking a second woman. Davis had been charged with doing the same to a third victim, but that person didn’t show up at the trial after being served with a subpoena to testify. Those charges were then dismissed.
–The 24th annual Greater Minnesota Two-Cylinder Club Field Days, Swap Meet and Auction is Saturday and Sunday at the Morrison County Fairgrounds. Gates open at 7:30am with breakfast, events include Saturday auction 10am, kids pedal tractor pull at 1pm, FFA style tractor driving 4pm, parade of tractors Sunday 11am, garden and antique tractor pull Sunday at noon, food, music, demonstrations and so much more. This year featuring John Deere 20 series tractors, John Deere vintage bicycles, Ski-Doo snowmobiles and all brands of garden tractors. Tickets $7 each day, $2 for kids 6-12, free under 5.
