NEWS
--The family of Mille Lacs County Doctor Cathy Donovan is now offering a 25-thousand-dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest one year after her hit-and-run death. She was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking her dogs along Highway 169 near Onamia just over a year ago, on November 13th, 2023. "Shortly before Doctor Donovan was struck she was seen speaking to somebody in a passenger car in that crossover behind me. We still don't know who that person is or that vehicle that was described possibly as a Ford Focus type vehicle or similar passenger car." Mille Lacs County Sheriff Kyle Burton says local investigators and the B-C-A have looked into hundreds of tips and it really bothers him that they have not solved this case. Authorities seized a vehicle of interest last winter but say that Tesla has been ruled out.

--40-year-old Big Lake woman has been identified as the person who died on Highway 10 in Big Lake Township Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says a 25-year-old Elk River man was driving west on Highway 10 when the driver of a Nissan Altima crossed the road at 172nd Street Northwest, and the two cars collided in the intersection. Danielle Hayes was airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died.

--Minnesota’s jobs picture was flat in October. The state’s Department of Employment and Economic Development says there were 1,000 job cuts, which were almost perfectly offset by an upward revision of 1,100 to the September figure. The unemployment and labor force participation rates stayed the same over the period. Minnesota’s overall employment picture continues to be rosier than the national average. Our jobless rate of 3.4% is below the national average of 4.1%. At 67.7%, the percentage of eligible adults employed in the state is well above the 62.7% for the country as a whole. Statewide, Minnesota added 33,257 positions in the past year, a gain of 1.1%. St. Cloud is lagging behind that at 824 jobs, or 0.8% growth over that same time period.

–A message from the Little Falls Police Department if you called 911 by accident, don't just hang up. Recently the police department stated that there have been 911 hangups and if you hangup the police department has to consider the call an emergency and time is consumed to find the callers residence and check out the hangup call and you may have police knocking on your door. If you accidentally called 911 just let the dispatcher know it is a mistake and they will understand. Then they don't have to reach out to police or deputies to check out the hanged up call taking them from possibly a real emergency that could be happening at that same time. Thank You.

RECALL NEWS
--General Motors (GM) is recalling 461,839 diesel vehicles due to a transmission issue that can impact wheel function, said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). According to the NHTSA recall notice released Wednesday, a transmission valve prone to wearing down over time can cause the rear wheels of affected vehicles to lock up, increasing crash risk. Twenty-four 2020 through 2022 vehicle types are subject to the recall, including certain GMC trucks and SUVs as well as multiple Chevrolet and Cadillac models. GM reported they found potentially related rear wheel issues dating as far back as 2020, including a few accounts of minor injuries. Besides issuing the recall, GM has also stopped the delivery of the included cars. Full details on the recall are on the GM website.
