NEWS
--Morrison County Sheriff Shawn Larsen states that Glenn Hoppe has been located and remains in good physical condition. According to the Sheriff’s Office, a passerby motorist located Hoppe walking along the roadway as he was driving by the Castaway Restaurant on 320th Street in Scandia Valley Township. The motorist recognized Hoppe as a reported missing person and dropped him off at the Crookneck Lake Public Access. The Sheriff’s Office made contact with Hoppe on Friday morning just after 8:30am and he was transported to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office for an interview. Initial investigation revealed that Hoppe left the Crookneck Lake campsite on foot on Monday July 25th in the early morning hours. Hoppe said he was disoriented and after several miles of walking he had wandered off into the woods south of Crookneck Lake. Hoppe set up camp in the woods and stayed put until recently located. Sheriff Larsen stated that Hoppe has been reunited with his family and the details of Hoppe’s disappearance are still being investigated. Hoppe has been transported to St. Gabriel’s Hospital for an evaluation. Sherriff Larson wants to thank everyone’s assistance in locating Hoppe.

--The Cass County Sheriff's Office is investigating a death of a 24-year old Brainerd man who suffered a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday in Lake Shore. Authorities found the man with a gunshot wound and he was taken to North Memorial in Robbinsdale but later died. Cass County said the incident is under investigation and the exact nature of the shooting death is still being determined. Foul play is not suspected. The man's name has yet to be released.

--A 16-year-old boy has pleaded guilty and is on probation until his 21st birthday after assaulting another student with a BB gun at Technical High School in May. In a deposition hearing on Wednesday, 7th District Judge John Scherer sentenced Hanad Abukar Ahmed Gaal to 100 hours of community service in addition to a possible 36-month sentence in prison if Gaal were to violate the terms of his probation. Gaal pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon on June 14th. Erickson said Gaal had also admitted to facts related to the two other charges he was facing: terroristic threats and possessing a dangerous weapon on school grounds. All charges Gaal was facing were felony offenses. Gaal was arrested May 25th. St. Cloud police say he shot a 15-year-old boy in the upper torso during a locker room fight. The 15-year-old received minor injuries. Tech High School was in lockdown for a short time from the incident.

--Two people were injured Thursday in Kanabec County near Oglivie when their vehicles collided on Highway 47. 21-year-old Cory Kowalzek of Fort Ripley was north on 47 when he struck the back of a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Cord Hugg of Isle who was make a turn off the road. Both sustained non life threatening injuries.

--A 75-year-old from Motley was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday on Highway 210 east of Motley. 30-year-old Gary Balsimo of Brainerd was west on 210 when he struck a vehicle turning off the roadway driven by 34-year-old Heather Robben of Motley. Neither driver was injured. One of the two passengers in Robben's vehicle, Margaret Montgomery was taken to the Brainerd hospital for treatment of injuries. The other passenger was not hurt.

--The Little Falls City Council holds their next regular council meeting tonight at 7:30pm at the City Hall Council Chambers.

--The Morrison County Fair is August 11th-14th info at fallsradio.com.

--The Morrison County Sheriff s Office received a call Saturday around 4:30pm regarding a three-year old who had been pulled out of Lake Alexander and CPR was being performed. When deputies arrived on scene the three-year old boy was being tended to by first responders. According to the Sheriff’s Office, family and friends were playing on and around a water trampoline when the three-year old went missing for a short period of time. The family located him underneath the trampoline and initiated CPR. The child was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in the twin cities. The child’s medical status is unknown at this time.

--The Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce has named Ashley Russell as their August Employee of the Month. Russell has been a customer service agent at Marshik Insurance for two years since moving from Rochester to Pierz in 2014.

--Governor Mark Dayton announced the appointment of Sharon G. Benson as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District. Benson is replacing the Honorable Mark F. Hansen and will be chambered at Fergus Falls in Otter Tail County. Minnesota’s Seventh Judicial District consists of Morrison, Becker, Benton, Clay, Douglas, Mille Lacs, Otter Tail, Stearns and Wadena Counties.

--Filing for various local offices, such as city, township and school district seats, begins Tuesday and runs through 5pm August 16th. During that two-week period, candidates can pay their $2 filing fee at their City Hall, city clerk, township clerk or school district office.

PIERZ= Pierz beat Dilworth 3-0, lost to Glenwood-Lowry Saturday two times 1-0, and 8-3 then Pierz fell to Leseur-Henderson 12-2 on Sunday in 6 innings to finish in 4th place.
LF= Little Falls lost to St. Paul Hamline 6-2, beat Fairmont 8-2, Princeton 11-1 in 7 innings and Waconia 5-4. Little Falls had their season end Sunday with a 8-6 loss to Wayzata finishing in top 6.
TWINS= Twins win in 12 innings Friday 2-1, but lost to Chicago in 10 innings on Saturday 6-5. Brian Dozier homered two times as Twins beat Chicago 6-4 Sunday to win the weekend series. Twins (40-64) are in Cleveland tonight at 5:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
REGION 8C= Lastrup won in 12 innings over St. Stephen Saturday while Buckman beat Avon, Fort Ripley held off Sobieski and Nisswa downed Upsala in Region play. On Sunday, Sobieski eliminated St. Stephen 3-2, Ft. Ripley routed Lastrup 21-0. Nisswa beat Buckman in 7 innings 10-0 and Avon eliminated Upsala 6-1 Sunday night. The tournament moves to Freeport this Saturday on AM960 KLTF.
