NEWS
--A 25-year-old from Pierz was injured Friday around 1:30pm on Highway 27 at South Platte River Drive west of Pierz. Courtney M. Meyer of Pierz was westbound on 27 when she lost control, struck the guard rail, and rolled over onto its roof before coming to stop. Meyer sustained non-life threatening injuries. Meyer's passenger, 4-year old Nelson Meyer of Pierz was not injured.

--A 51-year-old from Motley was injured on Friday morning just after 10:30am on Highway 10 at County Road 83 in Todd County. Valerie Elifrits of Motley was eastbound, lost control and went into the ditch. Elifrits sustained non-life threatening injuries.

--One person was killed Friday afternoon around 3:15pm on Highway 371 at Brent Drive south of Brainerd. Three vehicles were involved and the driver that collided head-on with a semi died at the scene. The semi driver from Deerwood was not injured. A third vehicle was involved in the accident but that person had no injuries. The name of the deceased was not released.

--A Wadena man was injured Friday around 5:45pm on Highway 71 at Leaf River Road near north of Bertha. 18-year-old Allya Kimber of Hewitt was on 71 when she rear ended 55-year-old Richard Ziegenhagan of Wadena causing his vehicle to roll in the ditch. Richard was taken the hospital with injuries not serious in nature. Kimber and two passengers in the Ziegenhagen vehicle were not injured according to the state patrol.

--Minnesota officials are abandoning their plans for a special session to offset massive health insurance premiums. Rates on the individual market are set to jump by as much as 67 percent next year. That triggered months of discussions about how to help shoppers who don't get federal subsidies. But any relief is on hold after a final attempt at a deal proved futile. Governor Mark Dayton and Republican House Speaker Kurt Daudt occasionally flashed anger during a rare public meeting Friday before declaring the effort finished. Daudt says he and an incoming Republican Senate majority will approve financial help and other measures in the first week of session starting January 3rd. The blowup also leaves $1 billion in construction projects and hundreds of millions of dollars in tax relief left unfinished by the state legislature and the governor.

--A St. Cloud man who shot another man in March outside a St. Cloud home was sentenced Thursday to almost 11 years in prison. 18-year old Nathaniel Leon Smith shot Antoine Dajuan Fair three times outside a residence in the 100 block of 18th Avenue North in St. Cloud. Smith pleaded guilty to attempted murder, abandoning a claim he first made that he acted in self-defense when he shot Fair. Fair was shot in the head, neck and back but survived.

--A St. Cloud-area woman pleaded guilty Friday to third-degree murder, after being accused of supplying fentanyl to a man who overdosed on the drug. 35-year old Amy Wanda Lauer is scheduled to be sentenced on February 17th. According to the criminal complaint charging Lauer, she provided fentanyl patches to 33-year old Ryan Stirling Boen. Boen had been released from a detox facility April 19th and was found dead at an address in the 1000 block of 22nd Avenue North on April 20th. An autopsy by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Boen's cause of death was toxicity related to fentanyl consumption. The court documents say Lauer admitted to law enforcement that she provided fentanyl patches to Boen the day he died.

--Wreathsforthefallen.org wants to thank all who helped in laying 4,700 wreaths on the graves of Minnesota fallen soldiers on Saturday at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls. The organization also commends all who battled the cold on Saturday.

--One person was injured Saturday morning around 6am on Highway 210 east of Motley in Cass County. 42-year-old Daryl Wellnitz of Staples was injured when he collided with a snowplow turning off the highway. Wellnitz was taken to the hospital in Staples and treated for injuries. The snowplow driver from Pillager was not injured.

--33-year old John Douglas Peterson of Palisade was charged Wednesday in Aitkin County District Court with one count of second-degree felony murder. Peterson is accused of causing injuries that killed an infant last month. Peterson had his first court appearance Thursday. The judge set Peterson's bail at $1 million without conditions and $250,000 with several conditions.

--A 20-year-old Brainerd woman was injured Wednesday around 5:30pm on Highway 25 southeast of Brainerd. Alexia Magnan collided with 56-year-old Julia Johnson of Brainerd at the intersection of 25 and 28th Street. Magnan was treated at the Brainerd hospital for injuries while Johnson was not injured.

--The last Little Falls City Council Meeting of the year is tonight scheduled for 7:30 at City Hall council chambers.

--The Motley City Council unanimously voted last Monday night to increase its levy by 3.4 percent for 2017.

--The Little Falls School Board meets at 5:00pm this evening in the County Boardroom of the Morrison County governement center.

--Holiday concerts tonight for both Little Falls and Pierz at their respected high schools.

SPORTS
NFL= Indianapolis destroyed the Vikings Sunday 34-6 at U.S. Bank Stadium. Adrian Peterson played but was stuffed for limited yards. The Vikings are at Green Bay Saturday at 11:30am on AM960 KLTF. New York Giants beat Detroit 17-6 and Green Bay held off Chicago 30-27 so Detroit 9-5, Green Bay 8-6 and Vikings are now 7-7.
COL FB= The Minnesota Gophers will still play in the Holiday Bowl on December 27th after talking with team officials and their head coach late Friday night. The football team had boycotted all football activities and was going to be replaced by Northern Illinois in the game next week. However, after consideration the team apoligized for their actions and all returned to practice Saturday stating that the game was more important for the school and the fans than just their other personal views of the University. The game is scheduled between the Gophers and Washington State December 27th at 6pm in San Diego with pregame at 5pm on AM960 KLTF.
