NEWS
--The Little Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire Thursday night. At 10:45pm 15 Little Falls firefighters responded to the William Freudenrich residence at 1410 Riverview Drive for a fire in the attic. Smoke detectors in the home alerted both William and his wife Gladys who were able to escape safely. Upon arrival firefighters noticed heavy smoke coming out of the roof. The damage was contained mainly in the attic area although some of the walls in the house may have sustained some damage. Firefighters were on scene for about three hours and there were no injuries. The fire is still under investigation however foul play is not suspected.

--Back on Friday the Morrison County Department of Public Works began conducting culvert replacements on County State Aid Highway 8 (370th Avenue) East of Harding that will require a detour of traffic. CSAH 8 will be closed between State Highway 27 and CSAH 51 (Quest Road). Traffic will be detoured while the project is being conducted. The project is estimated to take several weeks.

--35-year-old Glenn Johnson of Little Falls was charged this week with 2nd degree assault in Morrison County District Court. The charge stemmed from an October 6th incident, when the Little Falls Police Department received a report of an assault at a residence. Police spoke with a victim, who allegedly said that during an argument, Johnson started swinging at people. The victim allegedly said he was able to get a glass bottle away from Johnson, but he took another individual’s phone. The individuals traded the bottle for the phone and Johnson allegedly hit the victim over the head with the bottle. An officer allegedly felt a lump on the back of the victim’s head. Another individual at the residence allegedly had cuts and scrapes on his forearm. If convicted, Johnson could face up to seven years in prison and/or a $14,000 fine.

--There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony Tuesday at 11:30am for the Highway 27 project on the west side of Little Falls. The ceremony will include city dignitaries and others at the intersection of Highway 27 and Lindbergh Drive.

--Four people were hurt in a crash near Duelm Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 25 at Duelm Road in St. George Township. The Minnesota State Patrol says an SUV was going east on Duelm Road and was hit in the intersection by a semi going north on Highway 25. The driver of the semi, 54-year-old Chehab Alzamily, of El Paso, Texas, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the SUV, 73-year-old Phyllis Close, and two of her five passengers were not hurt. The other three passengers, 77-year-old Barbara Kluk and 78-year-old Eugene Kluk of Elk River, and 78-year-old Lawrence Close of Zimmerman, all suffered non-life threatening injuries. Authorities say Lawrence did not go to the hospital, while Barbara and Eugene were taken to St. Cloud Hospital for their injuries.

--Area Sheriff's Offices are reminding you to be on the lookout for deer. This time of year tends to put deer on the move and often times it doesn't end well for drivers. Since October 1st, the Sheriff's Office says they've responded to an average of 12-17 car verses deer crashes weekly which is up from around 6-10 car verses deer crashes this time last year in central Minnesota. Law enforcement is reminding drivers to slow down, scan the ditches, and if needed hit the deer rather than swerve.

--A motorcyclist was injured Saturday afternoon around 3:15pm on Highway 10 at the junction of County Road 76 (Haven Road). 34-year-old Doren Jacobson of Sauk Rapids was eastbound on 10 at the northbound junction of 76 in Little Falls when he laid the cycle down and went off the road. Jacobson was taken to St. Gabriel's Hospital for reportedly non-life threatening injuries.

--A woman is dead and a man is hurt following a motorcycle crash in Becker. The incident happened shortly after 6pm Saturday evening near the intersection of County Road 24 and 150th Avenue SE. The Becker Police Department says a motorcycle driven by a man left the roadway, and the crash is still under investigation. The man was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, a woman, died at the scene. No names were released yet on Sunday.

--A St. Cloud woman was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 23 on Thursday afternoon. The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. in St. Cloud near Highway 10. The Minnesota State Patrol says a Jeep and an SUV were both going east on Highway 23 and collided when traffic came to a stop. The driver of the SUV, 44-year-old Kimberly Kruse, was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 34-year-old Dustin Lahr of Foley, was not hurt.

--The Morrison County Commissioners meet Tuesday at the government center boardroom. The meeting starts at 9am with sheriff's, public health, public works, extension auditor/treasurer and social services reports on the agenda.

--The next meeting in sex trafficking and internet safety for our children is tonight 6-8pm at the Falls Ballroom in Little Falls. The event is free and a chance to register for prizes. There will be one more of these events on October 28th at 7pm at the Swanville High School Auditorium again that event is free.

GOPHERS FB= The Golden Gophers routed Rutgers on the road Saturday 42-7 to improve their record to a perfect 7-0. After Wisconsin suffered their first loss of the season, 24-23 to Illinois Minnesota is now alone in first place in the Big Ten West. The Gophers moved up to #17 in AP poll and #16 in coaches poll. The Gophers host Maryland this Saturday 2:30pm on AM960 KLTF.
VIKINGS= Kirk Cousins tossed 4 touchdown passes and Delvin Cook ran in 2 more as the Vikings win 42-30 in a shootout over the Lions Sunday to go to 5-2 on the season. Short week for the Vikings who have Washington Thursday night at 7pm on AM960 KLTF.
ALCS= Aaron Hicks hit a 3 run homer and Yankees beat Astros 4-1 on Friday. Astros lead series 3-2 and game 6 was on Saturday. Jose Altuve homered in the bottom of the 9th in walk off fashion to give the Astros the American League Pennant 6-4 on Saturday to beat the New York Yankees 4 games to 2. Game 1 of World Series Tuesday.
