NEWS
–A fire in a swampy area on 195th Avenue between 183rd Street and 193rd Street of Little Falls is being investigated as having been started under suspicious circumstances. Around 7:45pm Tuesday 22 firefighters worked for six hours to put out the flames on what was estimated to be about 80 – 100 acres. A fire in one area was contained, then an area where there was no fire and a short way up the road, two fires — one on each side of the road. The DNR assisted in fighting the fire and the Morrison County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.

–Brainerd Police are asking for information on weekend vandalism at Stewart C. Mills Field and Park. The park manager said he saw damage Monday morning to the press box which was busted into, window screens were cut, windows broken, a ticket booth was smashed in and shed windows were broken at the field. Also a sign secured by 12 rivets near the main gate was ripped off. It appears nothing was stolen from the incident just a lot of damage. The police department stated that unfortunately the field and park do not have security cameras. Any information leading to those responsible for this vandlism is encouraged by calling at 218-829-2805.

–A fleeing suspect from police Tuesday night caused a crash on 13th Street Southeast in Brainerd. The pursuit started on 4th Street after a 22-year-old man had a headlight out. After police tried to pull him over he sped off around 9:00pm. An attempt to stop him at the railroad tracks caused the suspects jeep to collide with a squad car, then another attempt caused him to strike aother squad car before crashing his vehicle near Oak Street. The suspect was injured and taken to the hospital. Police stated that alcohol was likely involved in the pursuit. The man’s name was not released as he is awaiting formal charges in Crow Wing County.

–A 22-year-old Onamia man is accused of choking his girlfriend Saturday and faces felony charges. Mille Lacs County stated that Skylor Weyaus was charged with domestic assault by strangulation along with five other charges of assault, terroristic threats and causing bodily harm. Weyaus was told by a a judge that there was a no-contact against him from the woman. His next hearing is scheduled for November 17th.

–A 52-year-old Fairmont man is accused of attemtping to burn the bed his girlfirend was lying in and threatening “suicide by cop” before being arrested. Kelly Griffin was in court Tuesday on felony charges of terroristic threats, 4th degree arson and other charges of inflicting bodily harm. His next hearing is scheduled November 18th. The victim said that Griffin hit her, cut her hands and tried multiple times to light the bed she was in on fire with a lighter and lit cigarette.

–A building on the St. Cloud State Campus was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a gas leak. The St. Cloud Fire Department says the valve on an acetylene tank on the third floor of Wick Science Building broke around 3:30pm. School workers pulled a fire alarm to evacuate the building. The leak was confined to a storage room inside a classroom, and nobody was injured. Fire crews ventilated the area and the building was placed back into use.

–A Shakopee man was injured Wednesday in St. Cloud when he rear-ended a semitrailer on U.S. Highway 10. 49-year old Peter Wold was driving west on Highway 10 around 6:30am when his Dodge Ram rear-ended the semi. Wold was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with injuries the State Patrol did not consider life-threatening. The driver of the truck did not report injuries.

–23-year old Brienna Rodriguez of Pequot Lakes who was in critical condition Sunday after she was ejected from the vehicle she was driving, was upgraded to serious condition. Rodriguez was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after the vehicle she was driving rolled in the ditch near Meadow Lane and Highway 371 north of Fort Ripley.

–The Staples Motley School District is hosting two community meetings at 7:00pm tonight on the school board’s strategic planning process to develop a five year strategic plan. Both meetings are being facilitated by professionals from the Minnesota School Board Association. Community members may attend either meeting at the Motley School Cafeteria or at the Staples Motley High School cafeteria. The reports from these meeting will be used to examine and revise the school district’s current beliefs, vision, misison statement and goals/ojectives. The intent is to present a comprehensive strategic plan to the board and staff by January.

–The next Little Falls City Council regular meeting will be Monday night at 7:30pm at City Hall in the council chambers.

–It is Give to the Max Day today. This is an annual effort to support many local schools and non-profits across the state. The event raised over $18 million dollars in total last year. Many donations have matching grants. For more information visit givemn.org.

–The Franciscan Harvest Supper will be served from 4:30-7:00pm this Saturday at St. Francis Convent in Little Falls.

HS FB= Pierz vs. Jackson County Central Saturday 1pm from TCF Bank Stadium on FM94 KFML. The Pierz School District still has some advance tickets for the game by contacting activities office.
COL FB= University of Minnesota announced Wednesday that Tracy Claeys has signed a three-year deal to officially become the head-coach of the Gopher Football Team. Claeys took over as the interim coach on October 28th after Jerry Kill stepped down for health reasons. The Gophers are at #5 Iowa Saturday 6pm on KLTF.
NFL= On Tuesday the Vikings announced the signing of free agent LB Jason Trusnik and placed LB Audie Cole on injured reserve. Cole suffered a fractured ankle in the Rams game. Trusnik joins the Minnesota Vikings after being released by the Carolina Panthers back in September. Vikings are at Oakland Sunday.
TWINS= The Twins regrouping has started. After trading Chad Hermann to Arizona Tuesday the Twins on Wednesday traded outfielder Aaron Hicks to the New York Yankees for a backup catcher John Ryan Murphy. Twins thinking to move Miguel Sano to left field.
