NEWS
--Today is Election Day in the United States. The next U.S. President will be decided tonight as DFL Candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump vie for the top position in the nation. Closer to home the 8th Congressional Seat for the U.S. House is expected to be a highly watched race between Congressman Rick Nolan and challenger Stewart Mills III. In local state races, State Senator in District 9 Republican Paul Gazelka is challeged by DFL's Jason Weinerman, and House Distrct 9B- Republican Representative Ron Kresha is challenged by DFL Dustin Simmonds. There are many other races where candidates are running unopposed and in some instances, not enough candidates even filed to fill openings. Morrison County Commissioner District 1- incumbent Kevin Maurer is challenged by Mike LeMieur; Morrison County Soil and Water Conservation District Two Tom Brutscher and Scott Saehr. In city races with challenges on the ballot Little Falls city council ward one (southeast side of Little Falls) Loren Boyum, Robin Hensel and Raquel Lundberg; Little Falls City Council ward two (northeast side of Little Falls) Gerald Knafla and Catherine VanRisseghem; Elmdale Mayor both John Kulla and Ray Kurowski filed; Morrill Town supervisor had Richard (Dick) Kieffer, Craig Melby, and Joe Novotny; Motley mayor both Amy Hutchison and Al Yoder; Motley city council (elect two) Nate Douglas, Robert L. Follis, and Steve Johnson; on the Pierz Council both Kyle Bednar and Don Bujalski; Pierz Township Alan Hoheisel and Dean Rocheleau filed for Town Supervisor Seat C; Randall Mayor Danny L. Noss and Bob Riitters; Randall City Council (elect two) James Chyba, Andrew Haider, Rick Turner, and Brian Zilka; Scandia Valley Township Supervisor Seat E Brian Pantzke and Mike Rosvold; Sobieski City Council (elect two) Robert Czech, Marsha Krebs, and James Sobiech; Upsala City Council (elect two) Lana Bartells, Mark Gilles, Robert L. Maciej, and Dennis Westrich. For local school board races in Royalton seven filed for three openings. Those who filed include Noel Guerard, Ellie Holm, Jason (Jay) Leibold, Mark Petron, Jayson J. Revoir, Jeff Swenson, and Liz Verley; Pierz School District (elect 3) Steven Boser, Joanne Broschofsky, Robert J. Litke, and Rick Sczublewski; Little Falls school board (elect 3) only three filed including Cathy Adamek, Julie LeMieur, and Jay Spillum; Upsala School Board (elect 3) Roxie (Fuchs) Leners, Karin Nelson, Stephen Roerick, and Andrew L. Wensmann; Swanville School board (elect 3) only three filed including Kathleen A. Beckman, Christopher D. Kircher and Luke Peterson. You may see judical seats on your ballot. Most seats are unopposed with one Associate Justice to the Minnesota Supreme Court contested by three people vying for one seat. If you need to know where to vote today contact your local city hall or township official for information. To see who is running around the state go to the Secretary of State's website. The polls open at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm tonight. When voting is done, tune in tonight to Little Falls Radio for full election coverage as Steve Van Slooten, Mark Fyten and Corey Fink will be in studio just after 8:00pm on all 3 local radio stations with election results as they come in. Todd Kosovich will be joining them from the courthouse with local race results when they are tallied and become official. Salem Radio begins National Coverage of the Presidential Race at 5:00pm on AM960 KLTF while the local coverage on KLTF, FM94 and Q92 will begin after the polls in Minnesota close at 8:00pm. No matter your political preference, do your part today and vote.

--Motorists who drive on East St. Germain Street in St. Cloud will have to find an alternate route Tuesday as railroad work is being done. The St. Cloud City Engineer’s Office says East St. Germain Street from Wilson Avenue to Lincoln Avenue will be closed due to construction at the railroad crossing. The closure is expected to last until next Tuesday, November 15th if the weather holds up. Watch for signs and expect detours and delays in the area until it is completed.

--A 73-year-old Pequot Lakes man was injured in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Crow Wing County. Around 1:45pm Norman Armstrong was traveling east on a motorcycle and attempted to turn into a parking lot when he was rear-ended by another motorcycle driven by 64-year-old John Johnson of Crosby causing both cycles to strike the ground. Armstrong sustained serious injuries and taken to a hospital. Johnson sustained non serious injuries.

--A woman was hurt in a motorcycle crash in Todd County. The Sheriff’s Office says it happened at about 4:00pm on Saturday on County Road 11, near Clarissa. 50-year old Melanie Sanderson of Staples lost control of the bike on a curve. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. Sanderson was wearing a helmet.

--The Todd County Sheriff’s Office responded to a combine fire over the weekend. The call came in just after 5:00pm on Saturday near Bertha. The 2004 Case I-H Combine caught fire while harvesting a bean field. The cause of the fire is not known. The farmer was not hurt. The combine sustained major damage.

NATIONAL NEWS
--Former U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno Monday at age 78 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. She was the first woman to hold the position of U.S. Attorney General under President Clinton.

HS FB= Pierz (9-1) vs. Greenway-Nashwauk-Keewatin (7-2) in Class AAA state quarterfinals Saturday 1pm in Brainerd on FM94 KFML.
COL FB= Congratulations to Central Lakes College of Brainerd winning the MCAC football championship Sunday in St. Cloud. They defeated North Dakota State College of Science 36-28. This was CLC's 2nd Championship and they finish undefeated at 11-0 on year.
