--The man injured during an incident in Morrison County last week has died. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner said Joshua Adam Ostrowski, 36, last known Minnesota address in Browerville, died of a single gunshot wound to the head. The BCA issued a news release about the incident last week. The BCA investigation into the incident is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will turn its findings over without recommendation to the Morrison County Attorney’s Office for review.

--We are approaching the 3rd year anniversary of the Terrence "Terry" Brisk murder, that occurred on November 7th, 2016. The Morrison County Sheriffs Office is asking for the public's assistance for any information that you may have in regards to this case. This case is still under investigation. This case will remain a priority until the Brisk family and our community get the answers that they deserve. If you have any information regarding this case, you can report it and stay anonymous by either contacting the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office at (320) 632-9233 or by contacting Crime Stoppers of Minnesota. --Signage has been installed at the Little Falls Police Department labeled Safe Exchange Zone. The area which is under video surveillance is two parking lots across from the Police Department. That area is designated for people who sold property on the internet or have other personal business like child exchange. This area is intended for public use to create a safe area for these transactions.

--The Little Falls City Council met on Monday night. At the meeting the council approved numerous items including but not limited to a 2:00am on sale liquor license for Beer Belly's, consolidating preliminary and final plats for Sunrise Addition 2, west water tower reconditioning, enter an agreement for the Little Falls Police Department Facebook page with ArchiveSocial Inc., accept the resignation of Little Falls Police Officer Trace Swanson and post the replacement position. Residents should be reminded that the city brush cleanup is this Saturday. Also the ribbon cutting ceremony for Highway 27 on the west side is today at 11:30am at the intersection of Highway 27 and Lindbergh Drive. The Little Falls City Council is scheduled to meet next on Monday, November 4th.

--There will be two opportunities to get information on the upcoming Swanville school district referendum that will be voted on November 5th. The first is Wednesday night at 7pm at the school auditorium. School board members will also be at Kip's Cafe in Swanville on Saturday from 10am-12pm to answer questions on the referendum. Voting hours for the election is 12-8pm on Tuesday, November 5th at Swanville Fire Hall. Absentee ballots can be picked up at the school.

--The National Weather Service has released its prediction for this winter's weather. They say much of the country should be warmer than average and the upper Midwest is expected to be snowier than normal December through February. The greatest likelihood for warmer-than-normal conditions span a large part of the lower 48 states, with the northern plains and Great Lakes region expected to be closer to normal for temperatures.

--Due to heavy rains in the forecast this week, the National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for the Mississippi River at Fort Ripley in Crow Wing and Morrison County until Friday afternoon. The water level is around 8 ½ feet and could reach 10-11 feet which means it could go over the banks in some areas in the next days.

--Minnesota Power announced they are purchasing 20 electric vehicle charging stations that it will donate to business customers for installation at their site, along with up to $1,500 for each business to help pay for installation. The initiative is part of Minnesota Power’s EnergyForward plan that includes increasing the number of publicly available EV charging stations in northeastern Minnesota. Examples of prime locations include hotels, resorts, retail centers, downtowns, parks, multi-unit dwelling complexes, government centers and nonprofits. Minnesota Power will select the recipients of the chargers based on location and the suitability of each site for the program.

--The Foley man who punched a political candidate in a Benton County bar last fall has pleaded guilty to felony 3rd-degree assault. As part of the plea, two misdemeanor assault charges will be dismissed against 54-year-old Richard Schmit. According to the criminal complaint, Minnesota House candidate Shane Mekeland went into the bar and sat down next to Schmit in October 2018 and began talking to Schmit about politics. Court records show when Mekeland mentioned something about the middle class, Schmit cursed at Mekeland and then him in the left eye. A witness said the punch knocked Mekeland backward off his barstool and hit his head on the floor knocking him out momentarily. Schmit told investigators he had at least six or seven beers when Mekeland sat down next to him and began campaigning.

--A 22-year old man was taken into custody amid possible charges for criminal vehicular operation after an all-terrain vehicle was flipped in the early hours of Sunday in Crosby. Officers responded to a report of a crash at 12:32am Sunday at Southwest Third Street and Southwest 11th Avenue in Crosby. There, they found an overturned side-by-side ATV. A passenger was taken to Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for injuries requiring treatment. The severity of the passenger's injuries were unknown. The operator of the side-by-side was in custody Sunday at the Crow Wing County Jail, awaiting possible charges from the Crow Wing County Attorney’s Office for criminal vehicular operation, fleeing a peace officer and obstructing the legal process.
