NEWS
--A 35-year-old St. Cloud woman made her first court appearance Monday on a third-degree murder charge in connection with the April 19th overdose death of Ryan Boen. Amy Wanda Lauer appeared in Stearns County District Court on Monday where the judge set bail at $300,000 without conditions or $100,000 with conditions. Lauer had been booked into jail Thursday. According to the criminal complaint, Ryan Stirling Boen was released from a detox facility on April 19th and was found dead at an address in the 1000 block of 22nd Avenue North in St. Cloud on April 20th. Boen's body was autopsied by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office, which determined the cause of death was toxicity related to fentanyl consumption. Court documents say Lauer admitted to law enforcement that she provided fentanyl patches to Boen on the day of his death. The next court hearing for Lauer will be on July 11th at 1:30pm.

--St. Cloud State University President Earl H. Potter III died in a one-vehicle crash Monday night. The university released the news on its website and on social media at about 1:15am Tuesday. Potter was en route to the Twin Cities for a meeting with the SCSU Foundation Board chair. Ashish Vaidya will serve as Acting President and will bring to the board next week, for its consideration, his appointment as Interim President. Potter died in a one-vehicle crash that took place at 5:36pm Monday near Brooklyn Center. A Toyota 4 Runner was eastbound on Interstate Highway 94 when the vehicle went off the road, hitting the guard rails. The vehicle over corrected, crossing into the center lane, almost hitting another vehicle. The vehicle then over corrected to the left, causing it to flip multiple times until it struck the cable barriers, coming to a complete stop.

--Five people were charged Monday in Crow Wing County District Court in connection with a possible burglary in progress that occurred Friday night on Forest Lodge Road in Crosslake. Police met with five uncooperative individuals once on scene. The individuals refused to give Crosslake officers their names and also refused to cooperate with officers as to the reason they were on that property. Neighbors called police when they noticed people were next door when no one was suppose to be there. 37-year old Sherah Girard of Milaca and 34-year old Matthew Davis of Princeton were charged with obstructing the legal process-interfering with a peace officer. 37-year old Aaron Tomsky of Waite Park was charged with third-degree burglary, obstructing the legal process and a theft warrant. 41-year old Talitha Simpson of Mankato was charged with fourth-degree assault of a peace officer and obstructing the legal process. 36-year old Chad Anderson of Mankato was charged with giving a peace officer a false name, obstructing the legal process and theft.

--The Little Falls police department and Morrison County Sheriffs Office are participating in the 2016 Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics this morning. Runners, walkers, bicyclists and roller bladers are welcome. Participants are to meet in the parking lot at Tractor Supply in Little Falls at 7:30am. The event will start at 8:00am. Participants will start near Fort Ripley and continue down Highway 10 south to finish in Royalton. This is a relay style event so participants are not expected to complete the entire route. There was a charge to pay for a T-shirt and a donation to the Special Olympics.

--There will be a Vintage Vehicle Car Show tonight 6:00-8:00pm at the Cabin Fever in Little Falls. Free admission.

--The Mid Minnesota Federal Credit Union Dam Festival medallion was found Tuesday. Lucas and Issiah Jendro found the medallion at the tennis court by Lincoln in the rafter of the shelter. Lucas and Issiah will receive a $500 cash prize for finding the medallion.

--The Pierz City Council met on Monday night. At the meeting city administrator Scott Saehr announced he is resigning. The last day for Saehr will be on Tuesday, June 21st. Saehr plans to help with the transition period. There was no discussion Monday as to whom may fill the soon to be vacant Pierz city administrator position.

--The Minnesota State Patrol continues to investigate a hit-and- run crash that claimed the life of a 10-year- old girl in Aitkin County Friday night. Caylin Donovan of Lake Park was struck and killed just before 8:00pm while walking on Highway 18 near Mille Lacs Lake. Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area on June 10th between 7:30pm and 8:30pm to call Lt. Adam Fulton at 218-316- 3025 with any information about the incident or if they saw Caylin before the crash. It’s possible the driver might not be aware that they were involved in the crash. The State Patrol is being assisted by the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota BCA.

--The Little Falls Baseball State Send Off Rally is this afternoon at the high school. The sendoff celebration starts at 1:30pm. The team will depart from the horseshoe parking lot at 2:00pm. Those attending the sendoff are asked to park in the student lot. Little Falls opens with Rocori in the Class AAA state quarterfinals at 12:30pm Thursday. There are fan buses going to the game on Thursday. Sign-up for the fan buses this morning from 7:45am-noon in the high school activities office. The Pierz baseball team will have a sendoff for the players on Thursday at 2:15pm as they are escorted out of town. Pierz opens up the Class AA state tournament against Paynesville at 5:30pm Thursday in St. Cloud. The Pierz Pioneer baseball games will be on 94.1FM KFML (FM94) and online with the MSBN site through fallsradio.com.
