--The Little Falls Community High School Senior Activities Award Winners were announced Monday night. Here are a list of the winners: MSHSL AAA Award-Abigail Borash and Aiden Hagen; Vern and Bunny Zehren Award- Tauer Morrison and Kaylee Zupko; US Marines Scholastic Excellence Award- Courtney Loeffler and Luke Kush; John Phillip Sousa Award-Aidan Kaddatz; Louis Armstrong Jazz Award-Abigail Borash and Emma Ahlin; US Marines Semper Fidelis Musical Excellence Award-Lindsey Chandler and Aiden Hagen; National School Choral Award-Emma Ahlin and Michael Oberton; Fred Waring Director's Award-Kerstin Knopik; Frederick Chopin Piano Award Abigail Borash, Fine Arts Student of the Year Award-Emma Ahlin and Michael Oberton; US Marines Distinguished Athlete Award-Kerstin Knopik, Dane Couture and Jackson Grant; Three Sport Athlete Award-Breanna Barchus, Madeline Dahlberg, Taylor Jordan, Samantha Tembreull, Kaylee Zupko, Dane Couture, Luke Kush, Joseph Majerle, Tauer Morrison and Benjamin Rekstad; Female Athlete of the Year-Taylor Jordan and Male Athlete of the Year-Gabriel Nagel. Congratulations to each of the winners Monday night.

--Little Falls Radio was made aware of footage of bear being spotted in the Swanville area Monday night into Tuesday morning. About a week and a half ago a caller mentioned spotting bear around west and southwest Little Falls. A reminder from the DNR that bear are looking for food, they will take food from bird feeders, campfire debris and outdoor trash that is left behind. If you spot a bear and it does leave after a short time contact your local law enforcement.

--The Pierz Senior award night was on May 5th. New this year Pierz named - Activity Performers of the Year. They were Jaron Gross and Tori Mitchell voted on by Activity Advisors. Michael Leidendfrost and Emily Sadlovsky were named both "Athlete of the Year" voted on by the Letterwinners and "Student Athlete of the Year" voted on by coaches. Three Sport Athletes honored at the Senior Award night on included Ross Boser, Noah Cekalla, Ellie Fischer, Madison Gall, Alissa Girtz, Emily Herold, Brekanda Lashinski, Michael Leidenfrost, Madison Poster and Landon Schomer. There were also two four sport athletes honored including Emily Dehler and Emily Sadlovsky.

--The Brainerd Fire Department responded to several calls since last Thursday. Thursday battled a grass fire on Misty Glen Court burned less than 1 acre and cleaned up a gas spill at a gas station in Baxter. Friday: Called at 1:28 p.m. to a vehicle fire at the intersection of Land O Lakes Road and Fuschia Drive in Baxter. Firefighters extinguished the fire. Called at 5:32 p.m. to a vehicle fire on Wise Road. Fire crews extinguished the fire. Called at 6:32 p.m. to the intersection of Washington and South Sixth streets for a vehicle crash. Assisted police at the scene. Saturday: Called at 11:37 a.m. to a grass fire on the 10000 block of Crow Wings Heights Drive, which was on the Paul Bunyan State minimal acreage burned. Called at 12:35 p.m. to a grass fire on the 700 block of Southwest Sixth Street. Firefighters assisted the DNR in extinguishing a small fire. Then on Monday: Called at 7:28 a.m. to a deck fire on the 2300 block of Kermit Lane. Firefighters extinguished the fire.

--As weather permits, Morrison County maintenance employees will be working this week on culvert repair on CSAH 21 east of Upsala and on CSAH 34 east of Buckman. They will also continue patching various roads around the county. Graveling roads in the southeast part of the county. Please use caution in all area work zones.

--According to Superintendent of Upsala Schools Vern Capelle the Upsala School Bond Referendum failed last night. The vote unofficially as of last night showed 117 yes votes to 188 no votes. Meaning the bond referendum for Upsala failed.

--The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) needs the public’s help finding 16-year-old Rubyn Benjamin. Rubyn has been missing since November 9, 2020 from Brainerd. Rubyn has brown hair and eyes and is an American Indian. He is 5-foot-6 and weighs 150 pounds. There was thought that Rubyn mave have gone to Onamia last November to be with other family members but there has been no word if that happened. The last ping from a cell phone was in Stearns County who have taken on the investigation. If you have any information, please call NCMEC at 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678) or the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office at 1-320-251-4240.

--The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was called at 2:06pm last Friday to a report of a structure fire in section 17 of Rockwood Township. When deputies arrived, the structure an outbuilding/storage shed was on fire. The Sebeka and Wadena fire departments requested mutual aid from the Menahga Fire Department. Firefighters battled the fire for two and a half hours before it was extinguished. The cause of the fire is believed to be from a hot lawn mower put away just after use, the sheriff’s office reported. The structure and all contents inside were a total loss. One firefighter was transported to Tri-County Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

SPORTS
TWINS= Another late game meltdown for the Twins as the White Sox score 6 runs in the late innings to beat the Twins 9-3 last night. The Twins continue series tonight at the White Sox with pregame starting at 6:30pm on Q92 WYRQ.
MSHSL= The State High School League Tuesday sanctioned girls wrestling for the upcoming winter sports season but the vote on boys volleyball fell short and will have to be brought up again next year.
