NEWS
--Around 11:00pm Monday the Waite Park Police Department was dispatched to a threats complaint that happened in the parking lot of Cash Wise Foods. An individual performing parking lot maintenance in a street sweeper reported he was approached by a male in a vehicle. Upon making contact with him, the suspect started to yell and scream at him and advised him if he didn’t stop what he was doing he was going to kill him. The individual feared for his safety and retreated to a different area of the parking lot, where he then called the police. The suspect vehicle continued to drive erratically and squealing its tires in the parking lot. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, which was still in the parking lot driving in circles. Upon officers turning on their emergency lights, the vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle fled in a chase which lasted around one hour and covered 64 miles. The suspect reached speeds around 100 mph and after stop sticks were used by authorities continued at speeds around 50 mph with four flat tires. The suspect, 47-year old Jason Ashwill of Dassel continued towards Royalton, where assisting officers were able to PIT the vehicle and take Ashwill into custody. He was taken to Stearns County Jail where he is being held on the charge of Felony Flee Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and Damage to Property. There were no injuries reported. Three Waite Park squads sustained minor tire damage.

--The 1997 red Dodge extended cab pickup truck, MN LIC/029NLM was recovered off of 80th Avenue by 70th Street in Swan River Township. There are no suspects at this time and the investigation is ongoing. The other stolen vehicle, a 1992 two-tone Chevy single cab pickup, MN LIC/457JRR, has not been located.

--The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating an officer involved shooting Monday night in St. Cloud. A Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputy and several St. Cloud Police officers were investigating a possible assault. As part of the investigation, they tried to make contact with the occupants of a home on the 7000 block of Northwood Lane. Shortly after investigators knocked on the front door an armed man inside the home broke a window at the back of the home and ran. The BCA says evidence at the scene is consistent with the suspect’s weapon being fired. At one point the deputy fired his weapon. The suspect suffered non life threatening injuries. Two officers also deployed tasers. The suspect was taken to St. Cloud Hospital. The BCA recovered a handgun. The deputy and officers are on standard administrative leave. The BCA will provide additional information later.

--The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force conducted a search warrant on 28th Avenue North in St. Cloud Tuesday. The search warrant was the result of an investigation into the sales of controlled substances occurring at the house. At the time of the search 47-year old Michael Chirhart of St. Cloud and 38-year old Sarah Nesenson of St. Cloud. During the search, drug paraphernalia and an amount of methamphetamine were recovered. It was also determined that Nesenson had 3 outstanding warrants and had an active Domestic Abuse No Contact Order against her barring her from having any contact with Chirhart. Nesenson was arrested on the warrants and the order violation and was also arrested and transported to the Stearns County Jail and is charged with 5th degree possession of a controlled substance.

--A 54-year old Deerwood woman was injured Friday afternoon on Washington Street in Brainerd when the motorcycle she was driving tried to avoid a truck that stopped suddenly in front of her and the cycle crashed off the side of the road. Kim Ellis was taken to the Brainerd hospital for treatment of injuries.

--A 40-year old Baxter woman died as a result of injuries suffered in an all-terrain vehicle crash Friday evening in Brule, Wisconsin. Wendy Davis was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash reported at 7:17pm. Davis was operating the ATV on Old Highway 2 in Brule, Wisconsin, failed to negotiate a turn and lost control of the ATV, striking a utility pole. She was not wearing a helmet.

--A serial peeper will serve some prison time after pleading guilty to two counts of felony stalking. 31-year old Derek George, of Princeton, pleaded guilty to a charge of felony stalking for an incident in the 400 block of 19 ½ North in St. Cloud on July 8th while he looked into a woman’s window while holding a camera and touching himself. The incident came about a week after he was sentenced to prison for several similar cases around St. Cloud and Waite Park. George also pleaded guilty to another count of felony stalking for an incident back in January. A search of George’s criminal history shows he has at least 10 similar convictions dating back to 2006. As part of the plea agreement George will serve a year and half in prison. He is scheduled for sentencing on December 21st.

--A Benson man faces 11 felony charges of possessing child pornography in addition to two felony charges related to his alleged attempts to solicit sex with a minor through electronic communications. Bradley Christopher Alsaker, 33, was arraigned Monday in Swift County District Court on the 13 felony charges. Alsaker also faces a felony charge for possessing firearms after being convicted of a crime along with a juvenile second-degree assault charge, Alsaker has a 2008 conviction for domestic assault and a 2006 conviction for criminal sexual conduct in the fifth degree, non-consensual contact. Alsaker has been released on his personal recognizance with conditions since he was first charged with the solicitation charges in June. He is due back in court in December.
