A proposed wind project that was supposed to make Stearns County a leader in renewable energy production and provide thousands of dollars in annual income to local farmers is on hold. Paynesville Wind, a 95-megawatt wind farm proposed by Geronimo Energy, was given a green light by state regulators in 2010. But Geromino hasn’t been able to find a buyer for the electricity that the wind farm’s turbines would produce, and now says no project will be built in the immediate future.
