The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to be aware of another scam that is circulating. According to Sheriff Shawn Larsen, the most recent case was a caller posing as a representative from Medicare, advising the caller that they are now eligible for a free knee and back brace. The caller tells the victim that they need their Medicare card information and they will then ship the products out to them, free of charge. Sheriff Larsen stated that in this particular case, the victim’s card number was their social security number. Larsen wants to remind residents that if they receive an offer that seems too good to be true, it’s more than likely a scam. Residents have many options and one option is to get a call back number and have it researched. Scams continue to be an ongoing problem nationwide and residents are encouraged to never give out their personal information over the phone.
