A St. Cloud man is in Stearns County Jail after an apparent arson at a southside apartment early Saturday. Firefighters responded around 6:00am to Park Plaza Apartments for a fire in a second-floor apartment. Police say a man entered the apartment of a 21-year-old woman without permission and set a bedroom on fire while she was sleeping in another room. The woman was not injured and the man fled the scene. Officers found 25-year old Almiqdam Abdullatif Aldhuwayhi sleeping in his car. He was arrested and taken to Stearns County Jail. He could be charged with first-degree burglary, first-degree arson, violation of a no-contact order and DWI-related offenses.The fire department estimates the damage at $30,000. An apartment directly below the fire received minimal water damage.
