A St. Cloud man pleaded guilty Monday to a drug charge, admitting that he shared crack cocaine with a woman who later died from an overdose. 60-year old Marvin Davis pleaded guilty to a third-degree controlled substance crime. Davis admitting providing crack cocaine to 32-year old Shiquita Cherice Clark who died at Davis’ east St. Cloud apartment. A medical examiner determined Clark died from “mixed drug toxicity” and that she had ingested crack and heroin. Davis was sentenced Monday, receiving a 42-month stayed sentence. That is twice what is called for in State Sentencing Guidelines. As part of the stayed sentence, Davis was sentenced to 209 days in jail, time already served. Davis previously pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, but the Benton County District Court Judge didn’t accept the terms of the plea agreement, which included a stayed sentence less than what was called for in sentencing guidelines.
